THE MINISTER DIRECTED THE CONCERNED AUTHORITIES TO COMPLETE THE ONGOING DEVELOPMENT WORKS WITHIN THE STIPULATED TIME AND ACCORDING TO QUALITY STANDARDS.

Local Government Minister Balkar Singh conducted a review meeting, in the presence of Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh, regarding the development works of the Municipal Corporation Patiala, Municipal Councils/Nagar Panchayats Sanaur, Ghanaur, Ghagga, Devigarh, Sangrur, Cheema, Dirba and Moonak of District Patiala and Sangrur, at Municipal Bhawan, Sector-35, Chandigarh, on Thursday. He directed the completion of ongoing development work within the stipulated time and in accordance with quality standards.
S. Balkar Singh had a detailed discussion with the officials regarding the projects in progress under the AMRUT and Swachh Bharat Mission, as well as the development works being carried out with the new grant. He urged the officials to take personal interest and complete these works promptly. He asked the officials of the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Councils/ Nagar Panchayats, to ensure that they provide comprehensive information about the progress of development works while maintaining coordination with the MLAs of their constituencies.
The Local Government Minister asked the Sewerage Board and Municipal Corporation/Municipal Council officials to coordinate with the District Administration to identify suitable sites for Sewerage Treatment Plants and Water Treatment Plants well in advance.
The Cabinet Minister stated that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is making every effort to provide basic facilities and a clean, pollution-free environment to the residents of the state. To achieve this objective, there will be no shortage of funds for development works.
He informed the officials that any necessary machinery required for sewerage cleaning and other works should be procured to ensure the smooth functioning of the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Councils/ Nagar Panchayats. He also stressed the importance of regular sewerage cleaning to prevent blockages in the sewerage pipes.
S. Balkar Singh instructed the officials that our government is committed to providing a corruption-free administration to the people of the state. Therefore, anyone found involved in corruption will not be spared.
During this occasion, in addition to MLAs Mr Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, Mr Barinder Kumar Goyal, Mr Gurlal Ghanaur, and Ajit Pal Singh Kohli, Secretary of the Local Government Department Mr. Ajoy Sharma, CEO of Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board Mr. Malwinder Singh Jaggi, Director of the Local Government Department Mr. Uma Shankar Gupta, Municipal Commissioner of Patiala, Additional Deputy Commissioners Patiala, and Sangrur, along with all Chief Engineers of the Head Office, EOs, Municipal Corporations, Municipal Council/Nagar Panchayats and other Officers were present.
