Vigilance Bureau arrests ASI for taking Rs 5,000 bribe | Gurbani World

Chandigarh September 20 : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign on Wednesday, arrested a Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Daljit Singh, posted at police station, Dehlon, Ludhiana district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.

 

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said ASI has been arrested on the complaint of Chandanpreet Singh, resident of Doraha town, Ludhiana district who have lodged a complaint on the Chief Minister’s Anti Corruption Action Line in this regard.

 

Giving details he added that the said complainant has alleged in his online complaint that the above said police official had already taken Rs 5,000 for joining investigation as per the interim order of High Court in a police case registered in police station Dehlon. The complainant further alleged that the said police personnel has demanded bribe of Rs 25,000 on behalf of SHO Delhon by threatening him that in case the said amount was not paid then his bail would be got cancelled.

He recorded the conversation with ASI regarding payment of bribe money which was submitted to the VB as an evidence.

 

The spokesperson informed that the VB range Ludhiana has investigated the complaint and the arrested the accused police official after finding him guilty for taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 and demanding Rs 25,000 more from the complainant.

 

In this regard a case under section Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused police personnel at VB police station Ludhiana range. He would be produced in the competent court tomorrow. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
