IPRM Chetan Singh Jauramajra hoists Tricolour at Tarn Taran | Gurbani World

Chandigarh, August 15: Punjab Information and Public Relations, Freedom Fighters and Defense Services Welfare Minister S. Chetan Singh Jauramajra, today hoisted the Tricolour at Tarn Taran on India’s 77th Independence Day, and expressed determination to realize the aspirations of martyrs and elevate Punjab to the greater heights for transforming the state into ‘Rangla Punjab’.

 

“Having made significant sacrifices during our freedom struggle, Punjabis fill us with pride and inspiration,” stated the Cabinet Minister during the district-level Independence Day event at Police Line Ground, Tarn Taran. He also inspected the parade and took salutation from the march past.

 

S. Jauramajra emphasized that under Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, Punjab is advancing in education, health, power, agriculture, law & order, civic amenities, infrastructure, urban and rural development along with fostering an investment-friendly industrial atmosphere.

 

He stated that in its approximately 17 months of governance, the Mann Government has implemented numerous pro-people initiatives. These include 600 units of free domestic power benefiting 90% consumers of the state, 117 Schools of Eminence for brighten the future of our children, more than 31000 government jobs to the youngsters, regularization of services of 12000 employees, an anti-corruption helpline to eliminate corruption, setting up of an anti-gangster task force resulting in the apprehension of many gangsters and doubling the ex-gratia grant for the families of martyred soldiers to Rs.1 crore.

 

S. Jauramajra said that Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann has inaugurated 76 new Aam Aadmi clinics for the people of the state, including four in Tarn Taran district. With these additions, the total number of Aam Aadmi Clinics serving the people stands at 659, which are providing convenient healthcare services to the people at their doorstep.

 

He said that the government has increased the pension provided to freedom fighters and their heirs from Rs.9,400 to Rs 11,000.

 

S. Jauramajra also pointed out that it’s the first time the Chief Minister, along with his entire cabinet, MLAs, and other officials stood in solidarity with the people during the recent floods in the state. The state government swiftly provided Rs.105 crore in immediate relief to the affected population. The state has successfully extended piped water supply to 100 percent of rural households, making Punjab the fifth state in the country to achieve this milestone. Our government has initiated a campaign to reclaim panchayat land from illegal possession, resulting in the recovery of approximately 11,665 acres of land till date. He said that uninterrupted free electricity is being supplied to the farmers.

 

S. Chetan Singh Jauramajra also highlighted the developmental undertakings in Tarn Taran district. He felicitated Freedom Fighters, their families, and individuals contributing remarkably in various domains besides distributing sewing machines and tricycles to those in need. School students performed cultural programs during the Independence Day function.
