In view of the upcoming 6th phase of Lok Sabha general elections in Haryana on May 25, the team of the Election Commission of India (ECI) today visited Haryana and held a review meeting in Chandigarh under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary T.V.S.N. Prasad to discuss election arrangements.
The review meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary was attended by administrative secretaries and Director General of Police. During this visit, Deputy Election Commissioners, Hirdesh Kumar, Ajay Bhadoo, and Secretary Soumyajit Ghosh from the Election Commission of India were also present.
Chief Secretary Prasad informed that for conducting impartial and peaceful elections in the state, Haryana has requested 200 companies of central security forces from the Election Commission of India, out of which 15 companies have already arrived.
He stated that 19,810 polling stations will be set up in the state, equipped with all basic facilities. Additionally, all polling stations have been inspected by the respective district election officers.
In this meeting, Haryana’s Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Agarwal informed the Election Commission team that special arrangements have been made for differently-abled and voters aged 85 years and above. Facilities will be provided to bring them from home to the polling station and back. Additionally, wheelchair facilities will also be provided at polling stations. He mentioned that 100% photo voter identity cards have been issued in Haryana.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department,Sudhir Rajpal, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Anurag Rastogi, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Department, Vineet Garg, Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department, G. Anupama, Director General of Police, Shatrujeet Kapoor, besides various Senior Officers from different departments were also present.
